A vacancy exists for a Financial Accountant within Card Connect, a division of VAS and Card Division, in Cape Town.

Key performance areas:

  • Prepare month end Management accounts and supplementary reports
  • Tax calculations
  • VAT calculations
  • IT14SD preparation
  • Ensure that the processes across business functions are adhered to for financial information to be accurate and complete
  • Conduct ad-hoc merchant reconciliations
  • Cashbook processing (as a backup for the bookkeeper)
  • Commission calculations
  • Expense tracking for BEE compliance
  • Daily cashflows
  • Stock recons
  • Fixed asset register management
  • Settlement function (training will be provided)
  • Reviewing the work of other departments
  • Assist with audit/reporting requirements
  • Any other Ad-Hoc duties as required

In order to be considered for the position, the following requirements must be met:

  • BCom Accounting
  • Completed 3 years SAICA articles

Soft Skills Required:

  • An auditor type mindset in respect of risk analysis and internal control application
  • Strong Excel skills
  • Team player
  • Attention to detail
  • Curiosity (i.e., Someone that is not complacent, but questions if what is happening is really the right way)
  • Is good at, and perhaps even enjoys, performing reconciliations and investigations
