The main purpose for this position to accurately vet and process merchant applications from beginning to end and deliver on all merchant administrative daily tasks as allocated.

The responsibilities of the position include, but not limited to:

Administrative duties:
  • Processing of new applications
  • Vetting of new applications (Inclusive of Conducting all risk checks)
  • Terminal deployment on all relevant systems (Postilion, Prime, Alieno, Portal, CRM, SharePoint)
  • Sending of deployment requests to relevant department/s
  • Administration of Merchant change requests
  • MIS (Ensuring Data integrity)
  • Scanning of Merchant applications
  • Filling of Merchant applications
  • Merchant queries
  • Merchant communication
  • To assist with other tasks within merchant services when required

Internal Relationships:
  • Maintain a co-operative working relationship with co-workers and other functional business units.
  • Take ownership for queries until amicable resolution is reached.
  • Must be confident, assertive, and accurate when communicating.
  • Assertive, accurate and proactive always.
  • Working with all staff in making sure that we onboard legible merchants, that losses are minimized, and revenue maximized.
Internal Relationships:
  • Ensure that a high level of customer service is maintained in which queries and complaints are handled and resolved in an efficient manner with merchants or agent Banks & Associated Companies (MBL and ABSA)
  • Ensure that no adverse reputational risk.
  • Must be confident, assertive, and accurate when communicating.
  • Portray a professional customer service orientated attitude/image
  • Liaise with other banks and/or management concerning queries or any concerns.
  • Merchants to be kept informed via sales executives on progress of Application progress, queries, or potential delays.

In order to be considered for this position the following requirements need to be met:

  • Matric
  • Completed Admin or Banking related diploma/Degree
  • Understanding of acquiring credit card payments systems and product knowledge, Banking regulations.
  • At least 2 years working experience in the Merchant services environment.
  • Experience in Merchant services (acquiring - Merchant onboarding) with a good track record would be an advantage
  • Good knowledge of Mastercard/VISA/PASA requirements and Customer relations
  • At least 2 – 3 years’ experience in credit card administrative experience.
  • Good letter writing skills and vocabulary.
  • Administration experience
  • Experience in dealing with customer complaints.
